Welcome aboard, Mr. Manley!

Welcome Back, Early Out, & Welcome New Friends!

Ka-Roos,

It's great to see everyone back safe & sound from a restful Spring Break. We had a nice, quiet day today as everyone got back into the flow of school.

Remember that Thursday, March 26, is an Early Out! Students will be dismissed at 1:35 pm.

New Friends:

The middle school boundaries are being changed for next school year, and several students from Eastern Hills Middle School and Nolanville Elementary School will be moving to Rancier Middle School. Let me take this opportunity to welcome these new students to the Rancier family.

We have planned a special event to get acquainted with our new students:

Thursday, March 26, from 5:30 - 7:30, we will hold a special Open House, just for students and parents from Eastern Hills and Nolanville. These students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the campus and meet our teachers.

Welcome aboard!

Ready for a Break?

It's almost time for Spring Break in Ka-Roo country! KISD's Spring Break is the week of March 16 - 20, and we're all looking forward to a little time off.

However, that doesn't mean there's nothing going on at Rancier!

Here's a quick summary of some exciting things happening:

*AVID students going to UT Explore on Saturday, March 7.

*Tennis matches March 7 against Union Grove & March 12 against Live Oak Ridge.

*Track Meets on March 10 (Girls) & March 11 (Boys) @ Ellison HS.

*KISD Middle School Theater Festival March 11 @ Shoemaker HS, with the Rancier Theater II class performing! (Play to be performed for our student body on March 13).

*Our much-anticipated Talent Show, March 12, 4 pm. ($1 admission).

Yes, indeed. This will be busy week in Ka-Roo country, and I hope you'll be a part of the action.

Get ready for a wonderful Spring Break!

Congrats, Lady Ka-Roos!

Championship time @ RMS!

Congratulations to our 7th Grade Girls "A" Basketball Team, who defeated Liberty Hill Thursday evening to take the city championship!

Also, congrats to our 7th Grade Girls "B" Basketball Team, who captured the best record in the KISD Middle School "National" Conference.

Our 8th Grade Girls "A" Basketball Team took on Live Oak Ridge Middle School in the city championship game as well, but came up short in their effort to take the title.

We are so proud of these girls and their coaches, who worked so hard all season.

Can't Believe It's February!

Folks,

The time is flying by!

Parents, be sure and mark your calendars for two special days in February:

*Monday, February 16: Holiday; No School for Students or Staff

*Thursday, February 26: 1:35 Release; Parent/Teacher Conferences from 2 - 6 pm.

A Frosty Morning

Students & Parents,

We had a lot of frost and ice this morning, but we still got everyone here and started on time.

Just a reminder to watch the weather reports, especially the early-morning news. If there is a school closure, you'll see it announced on TV. If the TV news gives no information about Killeen ISD, then we are starting on time.

Stay warm!

KISD News, Public Hearing

Rancier Family,

As many of you have already heard, KISD has approved plans to close Fairway Middle School at the end of this school year, and to open brand-new Patterson Middle School in August.

These moves will impact students at almost every other middle school, as boundaries are changed in order to re-assign all the students from Fairway, and to create a student body for Patterson.

There are some Rancier students who will be shifted over to Manor Middle School, and Rancier will also receive a whole new group of students from the Nolanville area.

KISD believes very strongly in parent communication. Therefore, public meetings have been scheduled to allow parents and community members the opportunity to hear firsthand what is going on, and to ask any questions they might have.

If you can possibly attend, please make plans to come to the public meeting at Rancier Middle School on Wednesday, January 28, at 6:30 pm, in the Rancier cafeteria.

I would love to see lots of Rancier parents in the audience!

Special Thanks

A big thank-you goes out to the 5th grade students at Peebles, Hay Branch, and Brookhaven Elementary schools!

We were honored at Rancier to host these students for a couple of hours Friday morning. The 5th graders got to tour the Rancier campus, see performances by the Band & Choir, and even got to enjoy lunch in the Rancier cafeteria! It was a great visit, and we're excited to have these new Ka-Roos come aboard next year.

5th graders: Remember to finish the year strong!

Have a great weekend!
